Peggy is a determined advocate and leader of health-related reform, as well as a sought-after speaker and collaborator.

Before joining Bruyère Health in 2013, she led mental health reform in the Champlain region and across the province as part of Ontario’s Mental Health Implementation Task Force. Peggy also contributed to establishing the Mental Health Commission of Canada and the foundation of the Knowledge Institute on Child and Youth Mental Health and Addictions (formerly known as the Ontario Centre of Excellence for Child and Youth Mental Health).

As an advisor to the provincial minister of health and long-term care and the premier, she helped guide the implementation of Ontario’s network of regional health authorities, the Local Health Integration Networks (LHINs, now known as Home and Community Care Support Services). A former senior vice-president at The Ottawa Hospital, Peggy has authored, collaborated on and led many health system integration efforts regionally and throughout the province.

Peggy’s commitment to inclusion and social justice extends globally. She’s the founder of HERA Mission, a non-profit foundation that supports women by leading development projects empowering widows, children and grandmothers in western Kenya, where she adopted her son.

With its expertise as a provider in aging, rehabilitation and complex care, Peggy believes Bruyère Health is well-positioned to bring partners together to innovate and support seamless solutions for those we serve as a key part of the health care ecosystem.

As a leader, Peggy brings this message and her courageous optimism to those we care for, their loved ones and staff. She feels it’s the responsibility of leaders to create the spaces, culture and environment that lift people’s spirits, give them purpose and allow them to be at their best, working with grace and compassion.

People working together as a group can succeed where individuals might not. One of Peggy’s favourite sayings, a Kenyan proverb, emulates her collaborative spirit. “Sticks in a bundle are unbreakable.”
