About:

Dr. Arun Radhakrishnan is a family physician with a focused clinical practice in chronic non-cancer pain. He is also an Adjunct Assistant Professor with the Department of Family and Community Medicine at the University of Toronto. His work in capacity building at a provincial and national level has been recognized with a College of Family Physicians of Canada Award of Excellence.


His leadership experience includes building multiple provincial level educational interventions including mentoring networks, academic detailing, and clinical point of care tools. He is a past AMS Phoenix Compassionate Care Fellow examining how compassionate spaces in mentorship can support compassionate care for patients. He is also a board member with the Centre for Effective Practice and the Foundation for Advancing Family Medicine.


His work in program development and implementation around mentorship was recognized with an international award for educational innovation (Ted Freedman) and a national continuing professional development award from the Canadian College of Family Physicians.


With funding from Health Canada’s Substance Use and Addictions Program he is leading a national project to expand the use of Adaptive Mentoring across the country and has completed the development of a National Best Practices Framework for Primary Care focused Chronic Pain Clinical Decision Support Systems. The next phase of his work around mentorship is supported through CIHR funding to use an Implementation Science approach to scale adaptive mentorship as a tool to address the health workforce crisis. In the area of digital health, he is pursuing the use of AI tools to help improve quality of care and access to primary care.
