new year

Onward and upward – Our year in review

12/23/2022

A message from our president and CEO, Guy Chartrand

It’s hard to believe the holidays are once again upon us, but here we are again. As I do every year at this time, I have been reflecting on the recent past, the remarkable years we’ve had and the continued dedication and resilience of our teams in service of our community. We are eternally grateful to our community for their support. From our volunteers to our donors and to our many health care partners, together, we are making life better.

Bruyère plays a unique role in our region's health care system through our specialized hospitals, long-term care homes and family health teams. We continue to rise to the challenges of the day to support the people we serve, helping them transition through the health care system and improving quality of life. Our research and innovation are leading to improvements in care improving the experience of those we serve and our teams.

Thank you for taking the time to learn a bit more about what we have been up to. Across our many facilities there is always a story to share, we hope that you will continue to join along through the year at Bruyere.org.

Guy

In service of our community

Over the last few years, Bruyère has opened an additional 20 vent beds and 10 stroke and geriatric rehabilitation flex beds, got a 160-bed transitional care centre up and running in months, was awarded 192 new and repurposed long-term care beds, and most recently, launched Bruyère@Home to help more patients be where they want to be, at home with the support they need.

Research and Innovation improving care

In 2022, we were once again recognized as a top 40 research hospital in Canada! Research and innovation at Bruyère is improving care and helping our teams create the change they want to see. We saw this with our ALTA platform pilot, reducing risk for our teams and improving comfort for our patients. And every day, we’re engaging in new partnerships, from our recent collaboration through our Research Institute with Best Buy Health to explore how technology can help people age in place, to our work with Connected Canadians at the Village to help our tenants experiment with technology to keep them better connected. And we continue our important work as a member of the CAN Health Network to test solutions for our teams, including our pilot with Caring Support, to attract qualified health care workers to our teams.

Our teams always brings forward the best solutions to ensure those we serve receive the best possible support as they transition on their care journey. As we turn the page on 2022 and begin 2023, we are excited about what is to come.
