Omicron, vaccines and me

03/21/2022

During the height of Omicron, it seemed like information was changing daily and it was challenging to find the latest information and get answers to questions.

Add in busy work schedules, kids and language barriers and it was even harder.

With the goal of getting people accurate answers to their questions and overcoming the barriers of language, time and location, Bruyère, in partnership with Ottawa Public Health (OPH) and community settlement agencies, put together a group of multi-lingual experts who shared information on Omicron and boosters at existing community sessions hosted by settlement agency partners.

The experts shared a virtual presentation with the latest information on Omicron and vaccines, but most importantly, they answered the specific questions that participants had on vaccine hesitancy in multiple languages including Arabic, French and English.

These presentations were intended to equip participants with the information they needed to feel confident in booking an appointment to receive a COVID-19 vaccine.

Together, we hosted 9 sessions with nearly 150 participants and worked to remove barriers to access accurate and up-to-date information.

For the latest information on COVID-19 and where to book a vaccine visit the Ottawa Public Health website.
