Bruyère’s 2024-25 Board of Directors

Welcoming Bruyère’s 2024-25 Board of Directors

09/27/2024

We are thrilled to announce the appointment of our 2024-25 Board of Directors. This exceptional group will be instrumental in driving our mission to bring together compassionate, person-centred care with world-class research and innovation to maximize the quality of life for those we care for and their loved ones.

Please join us in welcoming our new chair and incoming directors.

  • Erin Crowe, who joined the board in 2019 and returned to her role as Ottawa Senators’ executive vice-president and chief financial officer in 2022, now moves from the position of vice-chair to become the board’s chair.
  • Brad Ezard: An active member of Ottawa’s charitable community, Brad previously sat on the board of directors of the Bruyère Foundation where he served on the executive, and finance and audit committees. Brad also served as campaign chair of the “Celebrating Life at Every Stage Campaign.”
  • Valerie Holmes: As the director of home and community care at the Children’s Hospital of Eastern Ontario (CHEO), Valerie has lead system transformation initiatives while working closely with community and family partners.
  • Joanne Kudakiewicz: Currently vice-chair of Bruyère Foundation, Joanne steps into the role of Foundation representative on the Bruyère board. Community relations manager with Desjardins Financial Security Independent Network, she is also co-founder of Recovery Matters, an Ottawa-based initiative that raises money to help local families and business owners struggling financially due to a cancer diagnosis.
  • Elder Marques: A lawyer and partner with Blake, Cassels & Graydon LLP in Ottawa and Toronto, Elder has served on numerous charitable boards in both Ottawa and Toronto, with a focus on social services, health, and education.
  • Dr. Robert Swenson: In his clinical work, Rob focused on the treatment of patients with both medical and psychiatric illnesses, and participated in research in the area of depression and heart disease. He founded a collaborative shared mental health program with family physicians, psychiatrists and other mental health professionals which provides care to patients of the Ottawa Hospital and Bruyère.

We extend our deepest thanks to all our board members—new, past, and continuing—for their leadership and commitment to improving care with compassion, innovation, and courage.

With great appreciation, we want to send a special thank you to our departing Chair, John Hoyles who served on the board from December 2014 to 2024 and served as board chair from 2021 to 2024.
