Research Assistant I (CLSA)

The Bruyère Research Institute partners with Bruyère, the University of Ottawa and other stakeholders to conduct relevant and practical health sciences research related to medical education and improving the quality of life for the aging population and people requiring continuing care.


Function Summary

We are currently seeking a bilingual Research Assistant to provide support with the day-to-day tasks associated with the Canadian Longitudinal Study on Aging’s (CLSA) Data Collection Site (DCS), located at Elizabeth Bruyère Hospital.

This role will support the DCS by completing various research and administrative tasks. It requires you to be adaptable, detail-oriented, personable, and capable of working in a fast paced and dynamic environment.


Main duties and responsibilities

  • Interacting face-to-face with older adult participants to collect various physical measures, conduct cognitive testing, and administer questionnaires
  • Ensuring a high level of data quality by following each measure’s Standard Operating Procedure (SOP)
  • Performing accurate data entry
  • Reporting in a timely manner the issues to the Research Coordinator
  • Scheduling participants appointments using our scheduling software
  • Reminding appointment calls
  • Assisting with the cleaning and packaging of equipment used for data collection
  • Additional duties may be added as projects progress


Required Qualifications and Competencies

  • Bachelor’s degree in psychology, Health Sciences, or a related area of study or equivalent of three (3) years of relevant experience
  • Minimum one (1) year of research experience
  • Fluent in French and English
  • Strong communication skills
  • Excellent organizational skills and ability to adapt to a changing work environment
  • Ability to work independently and in a team
  • Experience working face-to-face with older adults, an asset
  • Willing to work on weekends, an asset
