Function SummaryReporting to the Manager, Facilities and under the guidance of the senior preventive maintenance technician, this role performs corrective and preventive maintenance on a wide variety of patient care equipment, appliances, and other mechanical and refrigeration equipment. This role acts as first responder to troubleshoot and repair various non-HVAC building components outside regular business hours.

Required Qualifications- Two (2) year Community college diploma from a recognized institution or apprenticeship program in a relevant field such as Building Maintenance, HVAC & Refrigeration
- Minimum of three (3) years of diversified work experience in the maintenance of buildings and equipment, preferably in a hospital environment
Preferred Qualifications- Valid Ontario or Inter-provincial license in a trade related to building maintenance
Key Competencies- Ability to perform activities requiring considerable standing, walking, bending, reaching, pulling/pushing and transferring equipment and material.
- Ability to demonstrate respect, patience and compassion toward patients and residents.
- Ability to work in a team environment.
- Ability to understand forms and reports when working from blueprints or specifications.
- Strong visual acuity for reading blueprints and working with small parts.
- Flexibility and ability to adapt to a changing work environment.
- Ability to work with little supervision and to exercise independent decision making and judgement in the performance of all duties.
- Ability to work safely and effectively with maintenance tools and equipment.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends.
