The John and Jennifer Ruddy Geriatric Day Hospital is a bilingual interprofessional outpatient geriatric rehabilitation program that aims to optimize the health and quality of life of seniors in our community.
Admission Criteria
To be considered for admission, a client must be:
- At least 65 years of age
- Referred by a physician
- Require two or more of these needs to be addressed:
- Mobility/falls
- Difficulty with activities of daily living, such as bathing, meal preparation or problem-solving in emergencies
- Cognitive issues and symptoms that are affecting function
- Medication concerns
- Caregiver stress / future planning
Program Structure
The team works closely with the client and caregivers to set goals and implement a personalized therapeutic program that can last up to eight weeks.
Clients typically participate in the program two half days each week.

Discharge
Prior to discharge from the program, clients will receive health information, community resources, and a home exercise program based on their individual goals and needs.
A summary of the client’s course of stay and progress is sent to his/her family doctor.
